Timbor - 25kg Bag
Tim-bor is the active ingredient Disodium Octaborate Tetrahydrate (DOT), a natural borate mineral salt and micronutrient. It is manufactured by Rio Tinto Minerals for use in the form of a water-soluble borate powder.
Molecular weight: 291.35
Appearance: White powder
Solubility: Tim-bor readily dissolves in cool water to give supersaturated solutions. (Precipitation may occur if a supersaturated solution is cooled further.) Solubility at 30°C is 21.9% by weight in saturated solution.
Chemical Composition (Theoretical)
Na2B8O13 • 4H2O
Tim-bor combines a broad spectrum of efficacy and low acute mammalian toxicity. The product has proven efficacy against wood decay fungi, wood boring beetles, and termites. In addition, it contains no organic or heavy-metal components or organic solvents.
Tim-bor has a well-known and proven record of performance in the United States, Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. The product’s performance has been demonstrated by independent laboratory and field studies carried out by universities and government testing facilities around the world. (The use of Tim-bor varies according to working requirements and country- or market-specific product labels.)
You can apply Tim-bor as a pretreatment to dry (via vacuum-pressure processes) or green (via vacuum-pressure processes or dip diffusion) timber. The ability to treat green timber successfully and the subsequent diffusion of borates in wood enables penetration of species that are known to be difficult to treat, such as Douglas fir, spruce, and many hardwoods.
Wood treated with Tim-bor retains its natural appearance and strength. Tim-bortreatment has little or no effect on ferrous metals, plastics, rubber, putties, bituminous solutions, other sealants, or primer paints.
