Potassium Permanganate - 25kg Drum
For water treatment, potassium permanganate is added to the head of the treatment to oxidise iron, manganese or arsenic, before reduced to manganese dioxide and removed by filtration.
The typical dosage of potassium permanganate depends on the concentration of the impurities and organics in the feed water, typical dosage is at 0.3 – 2 mg/L but can be up to 5 mg/L in some cases.
Actual dosage should be determined by jar testing to avoid residual manganese carry-over.
The finished drinking water shall not exceed 0.4 mg/L (aesthetic reasons), where 1 mg/L for taste threshold and 0.04 mg/L for colour.
