Safety

No work we do is so important that we can't take the time to do it safely.
Our FootprintSafetyQuality

No work we do is so important that we can't take the time to do it safely.

We’ve been operating for over 100 years, delivering products, services and solutions that keep communities safe. Safety is embedded in the way we work, from sourcing and manufacturing, to bulk transport and customer delivery, we promote safety as the presence of capacity, not just the absence of accidents or mistakes.

As one of Australia’s leading chemical manufacture and distribution businesses, we are at the forefront of striving to make our industry safer. We proactively influence chlorine and corrosive standards for Australia, and we lead the way in developing safe transport and delivery protocols, working with our customers and suppliers to ensure end to end safety management.

All people at IXOM are empowered to stop the job if they believe the risk to themselves, others, the environment, our customers, or communities is too high.

We all have this accountability to ourselves and each other – and especially the communities we operate in.

“Safety is about having the capacity to succeed under varying conditions. At IXOM we are proud of or safety record, and our goal is always to ensure that our people are set up for success, today and for the future."
- David Schelbach, Chief Officer – Safety, Health and Environment

It is a key requirement for all of our people to participate in Safety, Health and Environment (SH&E) activities and everyone is competent and capable to perform their job. We want our people to be protected both physically and mentally, and that’s why we facilitate initiatives that contribute to a safer and improved environment at work, at home and in the community.

IXOM provides a range of services to our customers to improve the safety of their operations. Our chemical risk management solutions include auditing, emergency response planning, risk assessment and training. IXOM’s dedicated Emergency Response Service (ERS) operates 24/7, providing expert phone line assistance in managing a range of incidents and emergencies.
